Using the Enhanced Item Logs in eComm
The enhanced Item Logs in eComm make it easier to find project information, customize how items are displayed, save frequently used views, export data, and manage multiple items or attachments at once.
These features are available within the different project Item Logs, although the fields and columns displayed may vary depending on the type of log being viewed.
Filter Item Log Results
The Item Log filter panel is located on the right side of the screen. This provides a cleaner layout while keeping the available filters easily accessible.
To filter an Item Log:
- Open the appropriate project.
- Select Item Logs from the project menu.
- Choose the Item Log you want to view.
- Select Filters in the upper-right corner.
- Enter or select the desired filtering criteria.
- Review the updated results in the Item Log.
Available filters may include:
- View
- Activity Since
- Only Awaiting My Attention
- Only Overdue
- Search
- Posted By
- Ball in Court
- Status
- Item ID
- Description
- Comments
- Attachment Name
- Fields specific to the selected Item Log
The available options may differ depending on the type of items contained in the log.
Customize Item Log Columns
The Customize View option allows you to control which columns appear in the Item Log.
To customize the displayed columns:
- Open the desired Item Log.
- Select Customize View.
- Choose the columns you want to display.
- Remove any columns you do not need.
- Reorder the selected columns as needed.
- Apply the changes to update the Item Log.
Available columns may vary based on the Item Log type.
Save a Custom View
After customizing the Item Log, you can save the configuration for future use.
A saved custom view can retain your selected columns, column order, and other available view settings. This is helpful when you regularly need to review the same type of project information.
To save a custom view:
- Customize the Item Log as needed.
- Select the option to save the view.
- Enter a recognizable name for the view.
- Confirm the selection.
Use a descriptive name that makes the view’s purpose clear, such as “Overdue RFIs,” “Open Submittals,” or “Items Awaiting My Attention.”
Manage Saved Views
Saved Item Log views can be accessed through the available view options.
From this area, users can:
- Open a previously saved view
- Switch between the standard view and custom views
- Review available custom views
- Delete custom views that are no longer needed
Deleting a custom view removes the saved display configuration. It does not delete any project items.
Export Item Log Information
Item Log results can be exported for reporting, offline review, or sharing with other project participants.
Before exporting, apply the appropriate filters and select the desired custom view. This helps ensure the exported report contains the most relevant information.
To export an Item Log:
- Open the appropriate Item Log.
- Apply any needed filters.
- Select the desired standard or custom view.
- Choose the available export option.
- Follow the prompts to generate the export.
The exported information will reflect the selected Item Log and available view settings.
Perform Bulk Item Actions
The updated Item Logs allow users to select multiple items and perform available actions on them at the same time.
To select multiple items:
- Open the appropriate Item Log.
- Select the checkboxes beside the items you want to manage.
- Choose the available bulk action.
- Review the selected items.
- Confirm the action.
Available actions depend on the Item Log, the selected items, and the user’s project permissions.
Manage Attachments in Bulk
Users can also select and manage attachments associated with multiple Item Log entries.
This is useful when project teams need to download or review several documents without opening each item individually.
To manage attachments in bulk:
- Select the appropriate items from the Item Log.
- Choose the attachment-related bulk action.
- Review the available attachments.
- Select the attachments you need.
- Complete the download or other available action.
The available options may depend on the selected items and whether those items contain attachments.
Key Takeaway
The enhanced Item Logs give project teams more control over how project information is displayed and managed. Filters, customizable columns, saved views, exporting, and bulk actions help users find important information faster and reduce the time required to manage project items and attachments.
