Respond to a RFI
When an RFI (Request for Information) is assigned to you in eComm, this guide helps you review the request, gather needed information or attachments, complete the required fields, and submit your response efficiently so the item moves forward in the workflow.
Steps:
-
Open your “My Dashboard” or go to the project’s RFI log to find the RFI assigned to you.
 -
Click on the specific RFI to open its detail view.
 -
Review the Description, Question, and any Attachments included with the RFI.
 -
Check any Required On-Site Date, Lead Time, or other schedule fields and update them if needed.
 -
Gather any supporting documentation or images required to answer the RFI.
 -
Attach the supporting files via the “Add Attachment” or drag-and-drop field.
 -
Enter your Response text in the designated field (e.g., “Response” or “Answer”).
 -
If your response changes item responsibility, ensure the Assignee or “Ball in Court” field is updated accordingly.
 -
Add any Notes or Comments to clarify assumptions, next steps, or additional context.
 -
Apply your Digital Signature (type your name exactly as recorded in eComm) if required by your process.
 -
Click Save and Submit (or “Save and Close” if you plan to revisit) to move the RFI out of your court.
 -
Confirm the RFI status changes (e.g., from “Assigned” to “Answered” or “Submitted”) and notifications are sent.
 -
Track the RFI from the log to ensure it’s closed or moved to the next stage as needed.
